D.C. Simmons is the editor and co-author of Organizational Leadership: Foundations and Practices for Christians (InterVarsity Press, 2014), with more than thirty years as a college professor and dean, he is considered an expert in helping Christian organizations work through transformational processes. His books are used in colleges and seminaries world-wide. Authentic Media, OM Books, of India has purchased the subsidiary rights of Organizational Leadership, making it available to over 300 retailers in South Asian countries.
While dean and director of the Center for Leadership and Public Service at Dakota Wesleyan University, Dr. Simmons focused his writings on leadership. Public Service and Leadership: An Introduction (McFarland and Company, 2008), a book he co-edited and co-authored, is now used in political science and public policy classrooms around the country. He has since lectured at colleges and universities around the globe, including Harvard University Medical School. His writings have been critically acclaimed by the likes of Mark Labberton, President of Fuller Seminary, and J. Stanley Mattson, founder and president of the C. S. Lewis Foundation and director of the C. S. Lewis Study Centre at the Kilns, Oxford, England.
Rev. Simmons has not just studied leadership. He has also practiced it. During his career, Simmons has worn many leadership hats, including corporate and non-profit CEO, corporate and non-profit board member, university dean, college trustee, college baseball coach and umpire, documentary filmmaker, and city councilman. He has also served the administrations of governors from both major political parties. His many awards and recognitions during his career include state administrator of the year, faculty member of the year, and when he was a few years younger, even won the state business journal's Top 40 Under 40 Award.
Simmons previously served as an ordained evangelist in Kenya, working with victims of HIV AIDS. He is currently a local pastor, which is why he understands the need for colleges that provide Christian-focused curriculums. He looks forward to assisting the president with Board development and providing leadership for the faculty of Regional Bible College as it strives to address the challenges of offering Christian education in South Texas and the region.
